Description Dirk, in leather scabbard with white metal mounts. Small knife and fork stored in front of scabbard. Leather hanging loop, or frog, attached to rear of scabbard. Large, cut stone seated in pommel of main dagger - this has been listed as an amethyst cairngorm. There is a similar, smaller stone, set into the pommel of the fork; the stone that would have been in the pommel of the miniature knife is missing. The white metal mounts at the foot of the scabbard, and around the miniature knife and fork are decorated with thistles. The white metal band around the throat of the scabbard is decorated with a five pointed star of the Douglas family coat of arms - indicating this dirk was made for The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles). The handle of the main dagger is made from a carved, dark-coloured wood. The blade of the main dagger is single-edged - the reverse is decoratively filed to give a serrated effect. The blade is stamped 'R. G. Lawrie Ld/ The Highland House/ Glasgow Scotland'.
