Description Book "Tom Brown's School Days" by An Old Boy with twelve illustrations. Publisher S.W Partridge & Co 8 and 9 Paternoster Row, London. On first page handwritten in ink is "Rankin United Free Church, Sabbath School, Strathaven, 2nd Prize awarded to David Anderson January 1912" Signed by T.M. Dey Minister.
Items from this archive relate to the Anderson family of Strathaven. David Fyfe Anderson (senior) was a draper in Waterside Street in the town and was married to Mary Ann Anderson (nee MacKay), their son David Fyfe Anderson attended Strathaven Academy and Glasgow Academy where he was dux and he later went on to become an eminent doctor in Glasgow. Daughter Margaret Mackay Anderson attended Strathaven Academy and Hamilton Grammar where she was dux, she later studied German and French at Glasgow University.
