Description This is a Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife within its leather scabbard, commonly referred to as a Commando knife/dagger. It is of the 1st Pattern to be produced, genuine examples of which are quite rare.
Stamped on both sides of blade at the ricasso and at end of the knurled (machine finished, diamond shaped criss-cross pattern) handle "Wilkinson Sword, London" on one side within WS shield design and "242" at handle. On other side "The F-S fighting Knife" with "3094 6" at the end of handle. Scabbard is brown leather with metal tip,slits in length for affixing to belt and small stud collar to secure dagger in place.
