Description
| case and bullet. Rifle round in .303 caliber. The base is stamped R /|\ L 09 VI. The primer has been struck indicating this round has been fired. The 'bullet' can be pulled out of the casing to reveal a wooden pencil affixed to the other end. This was the bullet pencil included in the gift tins presented to British soldiers serving on the Western Front over Christmas 1914 from Princess Mary. The neck of the casing is marked with Princess Mary's monogram of crown over the letter M. |
