Description case and bullet. The case is an empty .303 rifle round the base of which is stamped K11 VI. The 'bullet' pulls out to reveal a wooden pencil on the other end. This was the 'bullet pencil' included in the Princess Mary Gift Tins given to soldiers serving on the Western Front over Christmas 1914. The shoulder of the case is engraved with the monogram of Princess Mary, a crown over the letter M.
