Description
| Bayonet, French Model 1866. Long, single edged blade, curving down slightly towards the tip. The blade has a single fuller and a broad, flat spine. Steel crossguard with a hooked quillion on the blade edge and the muzzle-ring on the reverse. Brass hilt and pommel with grooved grips. Two steel rivets in hilt and a spring-leaf press-release in the pommel. There is a letter Z stamped on the guard and one side of the blade, the other side of the blade, on the ricasso, is stamped with a set of scales and the letters A C - standing for Alex Coppel of Solingen, the manufacturer of the blade.
