| Identification tag. Made from a pressed, fibrous material, octagonal in shape and green in colour. Impressed onto one side are the details: "124 C.S.M. J. Edmiston. 6 S.R. P." This tag belonged to John Edmiston, late Warrant Officer II of the 6th Battalion The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) in the First World War. The abbreviation C.S.M. stands for Company Serjeant Major, while the letter P signifies John Edmiston was of the Presbyterian faith. There are two holes punched through the tag to accomodate a cord lanyard. |
