Description Charcoal on paper drawing by Kaye Lynch, 1983. Shows a female scarecrow-like figure against a landscape background including a tractor and bridge with a moth at the top.
Kaye Lynch studied at Exeter and GSA. In a letter she explains:
"My subject matter is based on a combination of memory, dreams and imagination and 'Intruder' is very typical of the work of that time. I had been living in a very rural part of Southern Ireland and this image included reference to the impact of man on natural landscape. Interest and concern for the environment and issues of gender equality and social justice remain consisten themes.
Early influences on my work were the Surrealists, and feminist artists such as Judy Chicago, and Frida Kahlo. More recently I have been influenced by the work of imaginative artists such as the American, Louise Bourgeois and more locally, June Carey. I am very interested in the Art Brut movement and 'Outsider' art.' Lynch lived in Lesmahagow around 1987.
