Description
| Shield-shaped badge of printed fabric. Features a white saltire cross on a blue background with a thin black border around the edge. This was worn on the upper arm of a soldier's battledress jacket to show he belonged to the 52nd (Lowland) Division. It was worn in conjunction with a scroll in the same colours bearing the word 'Mountain'. This badge is one of two that belonged to Lance Corporal Robert Russell Hunter who served with the 6th Battalion The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) in the Second World War. The 6th Battalion formed part of the 52nd (Lowland) Division, a formation trained and equipped for mountain warfare. It was stored in a brown leather wallet along with other formation insignia belonging to L/Cpl Hunter. |
