Description
| Oil painting - dark abstract with strong sense of perspective. Hard surface with slight texture. Painting is framed, unglazed and signed at lower left. This work was exhibited at the RGI (Royal Glasgow Institute) in 1966. Murray painted many 'night' subjects from the mid-1950s onwards. The artist Graham Murray was a friend of Stanley Spencer, and Spencer stayed with him when he painted the Clydeside murals. Murray was married to an Austrian pianist and Spencer painted her portrait, which now belongs to the Spencer Museum. |
