Name/Title Painting: 'SY Swift' and 'TSS Britannia'

Description Painting in oil of 'Swift' and 'Britannia', both built by T B Seath & Co, Rutherglen, the former in 1900 for the Furness Railway Co for passenger service on Windermere. It was later reconditioned and was in service until 1981. Despite efforts to preserve the steamer, she was broken up in 1999. The latter built in 1879 as a private yacht for Col Ridhalgh of Windermere and was broken up in 1919. Painting was likely painted in the 1970s or 1980s from a contemporary photograph.
Painting is framed, glazed and signed at lower right with title at lower left.
