Description from the Director-General of Graves Registration and Enquiries, showing a photograph of Private Harkes grave (2 copies) and details on burial information. Card folded in half along vertical axis, inside left has window where photograph would be inserted, inside right has details on where particular soldier is buried. Private David Harkes was killed while serving with the 1/5th The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) on 29th October 1916. He is buried in Les Boeufs, Guards Cemetery (on the Somme). Photographs (2 duplicates) show a wooden cross with metal idenfication strips tacked to front. Other crosses in the background, ground looks freshly turned. Bottom right corner has the reference number BDW43 on both photographs.
