On the sleeves of his upper arms he wears two chevrons, showing his rank of Corporal. On his lower left sleeve he wears a single wound stripe, and the lower right can be seen four overseas service chevrons. His hands are clasped over a cane, and a singet ring is visible on the middle finger of his left hand. The soldier is 7311 (later 200530) Robert Sloan, who served with the 1/5th Battalion The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) in the First World War. |
