Description White china jug with straight sides tapering slightly towards top. Gold line around rim, picture of FRIARS CRAG, DERWENTWATER on the front. Transfer print with hand painting.
Printed on the back- FRIARS CRAG WAS THE LANDING PLACE LONG AGO OF THE FRIARS OF FURNACE ON THEIR WAY TO KESWICK ACROSS DERWENTWATER FROM THEIR GRANARY AT CASTLE CRAG OF IT, ROBERT SOUTHEY WROTE- "IF I HAD ALADDINS LAMP OR FORTUNATUS'S PURSE, IT IS THERE THAT I WOULD BUILD A HOUSE"
On the base- the word ENGLAND has been embossed, but it is almost obscured by glaze.
