Description White with purple fruit and floral design on sides and pattern around rim. Transfer-printed. On base: APPLE J. T. & S. J Thomson. Made by Annfield Pottery in pattern Apple, between 1865 and 1887, while pottery run in partnership with J Thomson's sons.

Annfield Pottery was established between 1816 and 1826 by John Thomson and was sited in the east end of Glasgow. The pottery was closed by 1883. The Annfield pottery produced utilitarian rather than ornamental wares, and exported to Canada and Australia. Items may be marked with Thomson, J.T., J.T. & Sons or Prince of Wales.
