Description White with purple, gold and green design representing 3 Scottish figures hunting. Transfer printed and painted. Although this jug is unmarked, it can be identified as the pattern 'Caledonia' made by Annfield Pottery, using Henry E. Kelly's book 'Scottish Ceramics' (p15).

Annfield Pottery was established between 1816 and 1826 by John Thomson and was sited in the east end of Glasgow. The pottery was closed by 1883. The Annfield pottery produced utilitarian rather than ornamental wares, and exported to Canada and Australia. Items may be marked with Thomson, J.T., J.T. & Sons or Prince of Wales.
