Description
| Oil on canvas painting of Field Marshall Garnet J Wolseley. Artist is unknown, believed to have been painted around 1910. Wosleley is wearing the uniform of the Horse Guards in the painting (he was Colonel of the Horse Guards). It is believed that the original of this painting was destroyed in a mess fire in 1926, a copy existed in the Royal United Services Institution so a copy was made of this, believed to be CAM.D67. The RUSI copy is now held in The National Army Museum (NAM 2006-10-4). It is thought that the original was painted by Emil Fuchs (1866-1929), however it is unknown if he also painted this copy. |
