Description
| Miss Clelland by Mary Armour. Framed oil on canvas, unglazed painting. Young woman with short bobbed blonde hair, yellow flowers held in right hand. Landscape in background. inscribed and dated 'Miss clelland./1925' (on an artist's label attached to frame) The sitter was a fellow pupil of the artist's at Glasgow School of Art and this work was painted in 1925, just after the artist had finished her studies. That same year she completed a diploma year in teacher training and in 1927 she married the artist William Armour and moved to Milngavie. Mary Armour was born in Blantyre and studied at Hamilton Academy. |
