Description
| Oil painting on canvas of Spectacle E'e Falls, a waterfall near Strathaven. Depicts a riverbank with rocks and overhanging trees. The name of the waterfall derives from a local legend about a boy who fell in love with the miller’s beautiful daughter. The miller disapproved and put an end to the romance. As revenge the boy placed an eye glass in the mill’s thatch, causing it to catch fire and burn the mill to the ground. Painting is unframed, signed at lower right. |
