Description from Major-General John Hill, Commanding 52nd (Lowland) Division, to the officers and men under his command on the occasion of the coming of the New Year, 1st January 1918. Printed on a single, double-sided sheet of paper, slightly smaller than A4 size. The paper has been folded in half twice, into quarters. Major-General Hill commanded the 52nd (Lowland) Division during the First World War. Major-General James William Norris Haugh served with the 7th Battalion The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) as a young officer in that War, the 7th Battalion being part of the 52nd (Lowland) Division.
