Description Straight blade, gothic hilt, regt'l badge in hilt, steel scabbard. Wilkinson blade. Label S & scabbard no 34569 Wil Sw pattern. Sold to Sir E Wood 12/10/1896 turned over by plough in SA 1939.

Label for object states: Sword purchased by Sir Evelyn Wood VC for his son, Arthur Wood, who had recently followed in his father’s footsteps in joining the 2nd Battalion. It was later dug up in a South African field by a farmer, who then presented it back to the Regiment.
