| Black basalt bust of Byron. Contains a central screw. Drill hole through back of head. Also visible join for the front of the face. Wedgwood.

Black basalts were perfected by Josiah Wedgwood around 1768. A fine grained unglazed body strained with cobalt and manganese oxides which could be cut and polished on a lathe or a lapidary wheel. |
